Emoticons in your own words

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Hi SweetIMers !

On a previous post I’ve asked you guys where you’re from.

The answers where surprising, as people from all over the world replied and we’ve found out that we have fans in England, Australia, US, Vietnam, Malaysia, France, Germany, Macedonia, and the list goes on…

We wanted to know here how do you call our smileys / emoticons / winks and other animations we offer - in your own language.

Please tell us where you are from and what are the words you are using to describe these creatives:

Emoticon / Smiley:

Wink:

You can also tell us how you say these: Sound Effects, Videos, Display Pictures / Avatars, and Nudges.

Thanks,

Roy

Where are you from ? (plus avarage users’ age)

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Remember I’ve asked you folks for your age a few weeks ago (on this post) ?

Well the results were interesting…

According to that poll, our avarage user is 33 years old.

5 of the people answering are over their 50’s, and 4 of them are under 20 years old.

The oldest user answering the poll is 72 years old, and the youngest one is 10 !

I think it really does prove that there’s no age for having fun.

I showed the results to the rest of the team here, and we all agreed that we want to know you guys better…

This way we’ll be able to offer you content that will fit better to your profile and preferences…

To do that, I’ll ask you some more questions from time to time, and the first one will be today:

Where are you from ?

Roy

Smileys - not (only) for kids !

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Hey Everybody,

Often when I talk with people about our application some of the questions being asked are: “Who uses SweetIM ?” or “What is the average age of SweetIM users ?” or sometimes even: “Aren’t these smileys for little kids ?”

Well the answer is .

Usually people are surprised when I tell them that we estimate most SweetIM users are adults.

Whether it’s our funny emoticons, cool winks, or crazy nudges - they all satisfy a basic need of the average person (no matter what his/her age is) - a better way of self expression.

To prove my point, I’d like to run a simple survey, with one question asked:

“How old are you ?”

Waiting for your answer,

Roy
