Hi Everybody,

We’ve got some great news for you today !

Some of you might have noticed a new button on their SweetIM toolbar for internet explorer:

This is our new “Winks” button, through it you can now send our cool winks over social networks (MySpace etc.), or over webmail !  (in addition to our emoticons menu…)

The good news is that your friends who will receive the wink - don’t have to install SweetIM in order to see the animation.

In fact, this is how it looks like when you insert a wink:

Notice that for now, not all of our winks are there, but we’ll gradually add more of them to the menu.

Hi folks,

Until yesterday, the only content that we used to offer on SweetIM toolbar for Internet Explorer was the smileys / emoticons button (enabling you to add SweetIM emoticons into webmail and social networks…).

Yesterday we’ve added a new button to the toolbar, that once clicked - opens a SweetGames menu. In this menu you’ll be able to find new games we’ve released, top downloaded games, as well as online games.

The menu will be updated every 1-2 weeks so make sure you re-open it every once in a while…

We have released the very first SweetIM Firefox theme on Mozilla site:

The theme will make your firefox look like this:

(Don’t worry - your address box won’t get so small… it all depends on the icons you already have).

Cool, isn’t it ?

Now all you have to do is simply go to this website (using your firefox…) and click on “add to firefox”.

when asked for email address and password, you’ll have to create a new account and login with your email and password…

If for some reason you don’t like it - you can always remove it from firefox’s addon manager (”Tools” –> “Add-ons” –> “Themes”) .

It took us a few days of work, but it was worth it - the new Hotmail bug was fixed !

For those of you who use Hotmail and couldn’t insert our emoticons into new emails since Microsoft released the new version of Hotmail - you can now use it once again !

According to a blog post on Windows Live Wire from last week, Microsoft have released a new version of Windows Live Hotmail.

According to Microsoft, the new Hotmail comes complete with a slew of improvements, including a new look, a new contact list, a new calendar, a new way to attach files, and a new spell checker.

So far so good, but yesterday when I tried inserting one of our emoticons through our IE toolbar to an email message - it didn’t work !

It turns out many of our users who tried the new Hotmail encountered the problem as well…

The good news is that our developers have already started working on the problem, and they estimate that in a couple of weeks it’ll be fixed !

I noticed that most of my blog posts refer to our messenger product, and totally forgot to talk about our wonderful product for browsers.

So today I’d like to give you a short “how to” explanation on adding emoticons to webmail / web pages.

SweetIM Toolbar for Firefox / Internet Explorer lets you add our emoticons to web applications such as webmail (Hotmail/Live, Yahoo mail, Gmail etc.), social network posts (MySpace, Live Spaces, Facebook etc.), forums, blogs (yes, even this blog !) and more.

To insert SweetIM content to an email message:
Select any emoticon from the SweetIM menu located on the SweetIM toolbar. The selected item will be inserted in your email and will be visible to your friends, even if they haven’t downloaded SweetIM.

Inserting SweetIM content to social network/forum/blog pages:
Select any emoticon from the SweetIM menu located on the SweetIM toolbar. A dialog box for inserting content to a website will open. Then click on the “Copy Code” button at the bottom to copy the HTML code associated with the content.

Paste the content’s HTML code to the page you want to add it to, by pressing CTRL V. The content will be inserted in the page and be visible to your friends, even if they havn’t downloaded SweetIM.

Easy !

Starting today, FireFox users will be able to use our cool smileys with their webmail, social networks, forums, and blogs (even this blog !!)

Till now, I was the one mainly talking, asking questions, telling you what’s new, etc…

I think it’s time you’ll tell everybody what YOU think.

Anything you have in mind that is related to SweetIM, whether it’s a question you have, a positive/negative feedback, content you like/dislike, or a new feature you’d like to offer - we’re here to listen.

Then when people will start throwing ideas - I expect others to comment on these ideas, so we’ll be able to open a discussion.

We had a meeting this week about our toolbar for Internet Explorer (and as you know - soon we’ll have one for FireFox as well).    The objective was finding additional features to offer to our users on the toolbar.

I claimed that there’s much more we can offer than what we offer today.

One of the features brought up for discussion was a YouTube Gadget.  And to be honest this was the feature I liked most and this is why I’m telling you about it.  Your responses will help us and encourage us to implement or not to implement this feature.

The idea is very simple: with a click of a button on your toolbar, you’ll see a menu where you’ll be able to view youtube videos from several categories (New videos, Most viewed, etc…), In addition - you’ll be able to search for videos, and also once you find a cool video - you’ll be able to easily send it to your friends over email…
