Adding emoticons to webmail / web pages
Wednesday, July 30th, 2008Hi folks,
I noticed that most of my blog posts refer to our messenger product, and totally forgot to talk about our wonderful product for browsers.
So today I’d like to give you a short “how to” explanation on adding emoticons to webmail / web pages.
SweetIM Toolbar for Firefox / Internet Explorer lets you add our emoticons to web applications such as webmail (Hotmail/Live, Yahoo mail, Gmail etc.), social network posts (MySpace, Live Spaces, Facebook etc.), forums, blogs (yes, even this blog !) and more.

To insert SweetIM content to an email message:
Select any emoticon from the SweetIM menu located on the SweetIM toolbar. The selected item will be inserted in your email and will be visible to your friends, even if they haven’t downloaded SweetIM.
Inserting SweetIM content to social network/forum/blog pages:
Select any emoticon from the SweetIM menu located on the SweetIM toolbar. A dialog box for inserting content to a website will open. Then click on the “Copy Code” button at the bottom to copy the HTML code associated with the content.

Paste the content’s HTML code to the page you want to add it to, by pressing CTRL V. The content will be inserted in the page and be visible to your friends, even if they havn’t downloaded SweetIM.
Easy !
You know what - let’s try it now:

Space Attack competition continues
Friday, July 25th, 2008I’ve just received an email from SweetIMer Sofia, who posted her Space Attack high score here: http://www.sweetimblog.com/?p=75 .
Sofia asked if she’s the one entitled for the prize and when is she going to get it.
Well I told Sofia that since there were so little participants, I’m giving it a few more days so ppl can try and beat Robert’s score.
So FYI the Space Attack competition continues till August 1st.
Folks I’m calling you once again - don’t let me lose money ! I have my bet on you.

Meetings
Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008It was one of these days today…
I didn’t realized it till this morning when I opened my calender…
We had about 1000 meetings today, so I was like talking, listening, talking again, falling asleep, etc. all day long.
Usually we try to make it simple, with less meetings and more work, but sometimes we just have to do it.
Days like this always reminds me of this joke:
So no special news for today, just wanted to share with you what was going in on here today…

New content updates
Monday, July 21st, 2008Hi Folks,
After talking with many users about this subject, I’ve realized that most ppl don’t know when do we update SweetIM with new content. Some ppl don’t even know that we update SweetIM at all.
Well this is very simple:
We update SweetIM with new content every two weeks. Usually we do it the beginning of the week.
So where is the new content and how do I know there’s new content anyway ?
Just open any of the categories (Emoticons, Winks, Sounds, etc.) and click on the “New” button. You’ll see all of the new stuff that we’ve recently added. The content will stay there till the next time we update.
As of today, we don’t notify our user that there is new content, so in order to find out if there’s new content or not - you’ll have to click on the “New” button and find out.
Roy.
Minimise Me
Friday, July 18th, 2008Ever wanted to emoticonize-yourself ?
Well Minimise Me is a newly launched service by Microsoft that enables to generate smileys that look like you. The service offers a variety of colours, resizing and reshaping options, as well as a selection of facial features, hairstyles and accessories that users can choose from to individualise their characters.
At the end of the process, the user can upload his/her character to his/her Windows Live Messenger or to social networks such as live spaces and facebook as a display picture or as emoticons.
I think that’s a good service and I was wondering maybe we should do something similiar as well, allowing our users to customize their own emoticons or maybe even winks.
What do you say ? Would you “Sweet yourself” ?
Roy
