Glitters

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Hi Folks,

Most of you are probably familiar with our Glitters:

We’ve released them a few months ago in both our messenger application and browser toolbar, and to be honest, haven’t really bothered asking our users whether they like these shiny ones or not.

Well it’s never too late:

Do you like the glitters ?   Are you using them more/less than other content items ?  Would you like us to add more ?

Another idea I had in mind was creating a “glitter text generator”, which means you can enter your own text and it’ll be generated with a glitter font…   Would you use such a feature ?

Jonathan,

Creative Director.

Global Instant Messaging market share

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Jeff LaPorte, co-founder of EQO Communications, has published a blog post with an IM coverage world map based on his company’s IM interconnect capability, showing different countries seem to have different preferences of IM platforms.

For example, 77.18% of Argentinians use MSN Messenger, followed by 9.88% who use GTalk, while 50.77% of Australians use MSN Messenger, followed by 24.45% who use Yahoo Messenger. Beside Argentinians - Mexicans (83.72%), Turkish (75.60%), Brazilians (75.31%), French (68.01%) and Dutch (65.41%) are all big fans of MSN Messenger. AIM is mostly common in the US (and amazingly very uncommon in the rest of the world). In large parts of Asia, Yahoo take the lead. And of course in China - QQ is the dominant platform.

Sooooo many meetings…

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

I think the emoticon that best describes my mood today is this:

This is how I feel after the 4738294.5 meetings we had today.

But looking on the bright side (that’s what I usually do in life) - At least some good stuff will come out of these meetings !!

I can’t tell you about the good stuff yet, but trust me you’ll be the first to hear !

Not an air hockey table

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

It took him 13 (or 14, who counts ?) long years till he finally did it… Jagosh decided it’s about time he’ll propose (or else his girl would have kicked his…) !

The wedding is this Friday (ladies, you’ve got two more days to make him change his mind), but we’ve decided to surprise him today with a little celebration. We all came to his office, armed with lots of booze, music, and some good spirit:

hmm… I guess it’s not an air hockey table after all…

I think you can guess who’s Jagosh…

you got it right, he’s the most surprised (and threatened) guy in the photos:

And here’s how his desk looked like today:

He’s got exactly what every animator (and a soon to be married guy) need:

Wacom board, sketch book, coffee, and a bottle of vodka.
Good luck and congratulations Jagosh !
The SweetIM Team.

Finally, the dogs are here… :)

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

It took us a while (I’m sure Roy told you we had some technical difficulties last week), but in this week’s new content update (released yesterday) you’ll be able to find the dogs that you folks have chosen !

Look for them in the “New” and in the “Display Pictures” categories.

ohhh, btw: you’ll also be able to find that scary video we were telling you about…

Thanks again for the help with the dogs,

Jagosh

Our new toy !

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Well I guess it wasn’t that difficult.

Kristy was the one to guess right what the photo from my last post was…

Our new toy !

Our new air hockey table !!

Jagosh, Eva, and Karen watching Slava and Robert Air-Hockeying.

Obviously, it’s located in our creative dep. AKA “Playroom”.

Erik and Issac watching Ari and Jonathan Air-Hockeying...

FYI, it might not be our “Space Attack” but so far I’m winning big time playing against Robert.

Guess what it is…

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Hi All,

When we started this blog, we promised some “behind the scene” of SweetIM…

Till now we haven’t done so many posts about what’s actually going on here in the office.

Well you’re about to have another sneak peak.

But first, we’ll start with a question.

What is this:

“This is what happens when you let the air hockey table win the match.”

Send your guesses.  (Remember it’s all about fun in SweetIM… )

p.s. if you were wondering, in this picture you can see from left to right: Robert (SweetFounder), Jagosh (SweetAnimator), and Issac (SweetDeveloper).

No new content this week

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

Hi folks,

I’m sure some of you were wondering where’s the new content this week, well the truth is we were just very busy watching the Olympics on TV so we were too lazy uploading new content…

Naaa…  Just kidding,

The real story is that we are having some technical problems (caused by the extremely high traffic to our website). But don’t worry, we’re about to fix the problem and you guys are gonna have the new content by Monday.

Sorry for the inconvenience,

Roy

Olympics winks featuring… You!

Monday, August 11th, 2008

“There’s an athlete in all of us.”

Or at least that’s what Microsoft would like us to believe.   With the Beijing Olympics spirit Microsoft have released some cool free sporty winks that you can add to your Windows Live Messenger.

What makes these winks so special is the fact that you can add your own photo to them.

According to a multiple choice quiz that you’ll take - you’ll be able to “reveal your inner athlete”, then later on add your face to this athlete.

When I took the test, I found out I have the same mindset as a Tennis Player.  Why don’t you take the test and tell us what athlete are you:

http://revealyourinnerathlete.windowslive.com/

On that note, I’d like to ask you what you think about such a feature in general:

Would you spend the time uploading your photos to our winks so you’ll have your customized winks ?

I guess most people would answer yes, but the real question is - would you keep doing so with over and over with new winks, or do you think it’ll be a one time gimmick ?
Roy.

Scare your buddies…

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

Till today we’ve enabled you to shoot, flip, hide, bite, burn, and smash your friends’ chat window.

Next week you’ll be able to…

Saw it !

It was originally planned for Halloween, but we just couldn’t wait to release it !!

Enjoy,

Jagosh.
